The challenge

We were asked to make two chairs for a pitch: an interview series with professional basketball players. The client’s concept rendering set the design intent. The seats had to read as real basketball hoops, backboard and all, the chairs had to flat-pack to ship to different states, and the deadline was two weeks.

How we solved it

We built each chair around an actual basketball hoop. The rim and net were painted in the client’s colors, and a small plate at the bottom of the net holds it in shape. Every design and fabrication detail was worked out to match the rendering while meeting the flat-pack requirement.
