The challenge

Working with the agency Pinecone, we built the start and finish signs for Red Bull’s Party Line race. The signs were big, and their size caused most of the problems: the printed aluminum composite (ACM) faces couldn’t be printed in one piece, and the finished signs couldn’t travel lying flat. On top of that, the client wanted bells the racers could ring as they crossed the finish line, and most bells were out of the budget.

How we solved it

The printed face laid out in two parts

The seam

We printed each face in two parts and placed the seam where the artwork hides it best.

The sign's structure in the shop with its removable feet attached

The transport

The signs had to ride upright, so we added removable feet that attach to the sign’s structure and keep it stable standing up.

A red bell made from a cut-down scuba tank, hanging in the shop

The bells

We found inexpensive scuba tanks, cut off the bottoms, modified them and painted them red. They look the part, they’re loud, and they came in on budget.

From sketch to snow

Result

Installed for race day by our friends at Pinecone, bells and all.
